Opening Checklist

Complete this checklist at least 20 minutes before class starts.

  • Turn on mat lights — make sure sliders are set to max brightness
  • Turn on lounge room light
  • Turn on lounge room lamp (floor switch)
  • Turn on both speakers by pressing the power button — they should auto-connect to the tablet by the transom window on the mat
  • Put on music — the tablet has Spotify installed on the gym’s premium account
  • Make sure the check-in tablet is on and open to the check-in page on GymDesk
  • If the tablet isn’t on the check-in page
    • Go to gymdesk.com
    • Login if needed (credentials are saved)
    • Tap the hamburger button (top right) and select “Front Desk Mode”

  • Dry mop the mats to pick up any loose dust or hair
  • Vacuum the lounge area and any carpeted/non-mat flooring
  • If the mop cover needs replacing
    • Put the dirty cover in the laundry basket in the office
    • Grab a new cover from the top shelf on the left side of the equipment closet
  • If the hard floors need it, give them a quick sweep (brooms are in the equipment closet, floor level, right corner)

  • Remove the cover (slides behind the water bottle & flip flop shelving unit)
  • Check the solution — if it looks used or low, replace it (it should be replaced every Sunday and Thursday by default):
  • How to replace the foot cleaning solution
    • Pour out the existing solution in the sink
    • Remove the towel underneath the pad
    • Rinse the pad with water
    • Rinse the towel in the sink, wring it out, and toss it in the laundry basket
    • Grab a new towel from the top shelf in the equipment closet
    • Lay the new towel down, place the pad on top
    • Refill with solution from the gallon jug on the floor
    • If you’re out of solution: replacement vials are on the bottom left of the equipment closet. Mix one vial with one gallon of water, close the jug, and shake to mix.

  • Check the bathroom floor for paper towel fragments (the dispenser rips them sometimes)
  • Empty the water cooler tray (kids spill water in it constantly)
  • Make sure the bathroom generally looks clean — if it doesn’t, give it a quick wipe down

  • Check all trash cans — if any are full or close to full, swap the bag and take the trash out. New bags are in the equipment closet.
  • Do a quick lap of the space: throw away any random cups, water bottles, or trash left around the lounge and mat area
  • Make sure the couch and lounge area look presentable — straighten cushions, clear off any clutter
  • Check that the shelving areas (backpacks, flip flops, water bottles) aren’t a mess

We want the gym to look good when people walk in. Take a minute to handle anything that looks off.
